Ellen Campos Sousa
MARKETING Ph.D. CANDIDATE, RESEARCHER & MINDFULNESS FACILITATOR

Hello, my name is Ellen, I was born and raised in Brazil. I am passionate about self-development and helping others to grow. From very early on in my life, I learned that education is the key to personal and collective growth.
I am currently a 4th year Ph.D. Candidate in the marketing program at Florida International University (FIU). My dissertation focuses on the conceptualization, development, and managerial application of a Mindful Brand Scale (MBS). I have a promising pipeline in the areas of consumer behavior and well-being, focusing on solutions for consumers and marketing problems. My main research projects focus on three marketing domains: (a) mindful branding with a special emphasis on managerially relevant phenomena, (b) consumer physical and social well-being, and (c) mindfulness and consumer well-being, particularly on the effects short mindfulness-interventions have on consumers. In today’s marketplace, various personal and societal issues influence consumers’ daily lives as they seek personal well-being and social harmony. In accordance with that, my research benefits consumer welfare and well-being across consumptions and business practices.
At the same time, my endless desire for self-development and to help others led me to mindfulness, for which I became a dedicated practitioner and facilitator. Since joining FIU, I have been developing and conducting mindfulness programs that support the FIU community (students, staff, and faculty) in reducing their stress levels and improving their overall health and well-being. I have also been conducting mindfulness trainings for Brazilians.
Before joining the doctoral program, I taught several undergraduate and graduate classes in Brazil for more than three years. In addition, I have honed my teaching skills in the U.S. as a teaching assistant, as well as an independent instructor. For me, teaching means combining knowledge, creativity, passion, dedication, joy, and kindness, in an effort to help each student to achieve their potential.
